For all of you who complain about how you feel, have you really given thought
to changing you lifestyle. I did, and here are my opinions--my
story.
At one time I thought all I could do was complain and that was all I seemed
to have energy for. I suffered daily debilitating migraines. I took a powerful
drug called imetrex which alleviated my symptoms for a while, but did nothing to
address the underlying cause.
I was so fatigued that I became depressed and gained forty pounds. This was
heart wrenching and led to an incredible amount of guilt about who I was and
what I was like as a mother. My lifestyle choices not only affected me but my
family as well.
All my complaining got me was pity. Even my doctor felt sorry for me and
prescribed an anti-depressant, prozac. I guess it was at that moment, something
deep down made me realize that I had to make some changes. My choice was to take
control of my own life and my own health by changing my lifestyle. And in my
opinion, that decision changed my life and improved my health more than I could
have imagined.
I began to educate myself by reading books and asking questions. I learned
how the foods we eat are so extremely important for our health and that todayıs
foods have become so processed, refined and depleted of nutrients that the
non-nutrient foods that I was eating and feeding my family ultimately caused
many of my ailments.
It sounds so basic now, but at the time it was an eye-opener. I now feed my
family a healthy diet consisting of whole, nutritious foods and organic whenever
possible. To these natural foods, I add vitamins, minerals and herbs to ensure
that our bodies get everything they need to prevent disease and promote good
health.
I can honestly tell you that I feel amazing! I have incredible energy and
enthusiasm. I feel like a different person. I am proud to say that I now run
competitively and I am inspired to pursue a career as a nutritional advisor. I
cannot imagine what my life might have been like if I had surrendered to the
little prozac pill.
Needless to say I am no longer depressed, I have lost the forty pounds and my
migraines are under control. I no longer feel guilt when I look into the eyes of
my two very healthy children. Now when I find myself complaining about how I
feel, I usually discover that I somehow slipped back into the old habits of
eating convenient junk food. Now I know to quickly take back control of my life
and resume my healthy lifestyle.
In my opinion, this knowledge has changed my life.
