ENZYMES TO HELP DIGEST THOSE CARBS
We've talked before about how important it is to digest our food properly.
It's not only important to eat well but we need to assimilate what we eat or it
doesn't do a whole lot of good.
Enzymes are naturally occurring proteins which facilitate essential reactions
within the body. The work performed by vitamins, minerals and hormones is
dependent on enzymes.
Raw foods are an important source of enzymes required to help the body digest
food. Unfortunately, because of our lifestyles and poor eating habits most of
our food is cooked and contain little if any enzymes. The more digestive enzymes
the body is required to produce, the less energy it has for the production of
the metabolic enzymes vital to repairing tissues and fighting disease.
John A. Allocca, Sc.,D., explains that "the glands and major organs,
including the brain suffer the most from the unnatural digestive drain on the
metabolic enzyme potential. The pancreas, which produces the most digestive
enzymes, swells to meet the great demand for enzymes while the brain decreases
in size". He adds that this deficiency also affects the size of the liver,
heart, pituitary, thyroid and other endocrine glands.
TROPHIC Vitamins has formulated an enzyme called Supreme Plus
(Carbohydrate Digestive) Enzymes which is a complete enzyme formula for
digesting all foods with a special emphasis on the enzyme amylase to break down
carbohydrates. This is the most active and complete carbohydrate formula
available. This formula also contains enzymes to break down other dietary
sugars, and in the process helps eliminate bloating, gas and indigestion.
